Dr. Zolkiewicz was born in New Jersey and spent his formative years there. He moved to Maryland in the 1980s and attended high school locally. He did his undergraduate work at Virginia Tech and graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 as the "Most Outstanding Senior Student" in his class. During his veterinary school rotations, Dr. Zolkiewicz completed a three-week externship at the prestigious Animal Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Zolkiewicz is a member in good standing of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Animal Hospital Association. He is also accredited with the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection service. Over the course of the last 6 years, Dr. Zolkiewicz has developed an interest in ultrasound and anesthesia/pain management in pets. He has completed several intensive ultrasound courses and performs an average of 3-5 ultrasound studies each week. When not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Z enjoys spending time with his family and rooting for his beloved Virignia Tech Hokies. His pastimes include running, biking, and (much to his wife's chagrin) tinkering with his saltwater fish tank. |
