Melanie joined the Kindness team in October 1994 as a receptionist, replacing Mrs. Marjorie Berry who had been at Kindness for 26 years. She jumped in with an eager attitude, instituting many helpful changes, and was soon promoted to Office Manager. She has a knack for remembering the pets first and the people who pay the bills later. Melanie had early experience in the veterinary field working at another veterinary office while she attended college. Many years later, after a career change and being a full-time mom, she returned to the most crazy kind of fun she ever had, Kindness Animal Hospital. After many years she made many friends (both two-legged and four-legged) at the hospital. Every day is an experience for learning and helping people understand and care for their beloved companions.

Melanie has two furry friends, a Sheltie named Cody and a Lab mix named Harley. She has lived and worked in the D.C. Metro area most of her life. Her hobbies include photography and jewelry making.
